Mechanical Engineering Department at KFUPM Welcomes 18 Students from Jeddah

 

Dhahran, Saudi Arabia — The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) welcomed a delegation of 18 senior students from Madaris Al Fikr Al Alamiah in Jeddah, accompanied by three supervisors led by Dr. Ahmed Al‑Zahrani; the delegation visited the ME Department on 17th Nov. The visit introduced students to KFUPM’s academic environment, labs, and student life while highlighting pathways into mechanical engineering.

 

The visit is part of the school’s effort to connect students with leading universities in Saudi Arabia and to help them explore future study options. KFUPM’s team provided an overview of the Mechanical Engineering program, its facilities, and the learning experience that emphasizes hands‑on applications, problem-solving, and innovation.

A Collaborative Effort

The program was delivered with support from the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Deanship of Student Affairs, and the Visit Club. Faculty and student volunteers guided the tour, answered questions, and shared insights about the ME curriculum and campus life.

Following a warm welcome, the delegation attended an interactive briefing on how mechanical engineering integrates with real‑world systems from energy and manufacturing to robotics and control. Students discussed goal setting, creativity, and the practical methods engineers use to solve problems.

Lab Tours & Demonstrations

Students toured teaching laboratories where they explored fundamentals of dynamics, measurement, and control using instructional rigs and instrumentation. Demonstrations showcased how theory connects to practice through data acquisition, vibration testing, and hands‑on experimentation. Safety, curiosity, and active participation were emphasized throughout the visit.
