Mechanical Engineering Department Welcomes Students from Al-Rowad High School
On Wednesday, September 16th, the Mechanical Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals welcomed a delegation of 36 talented students from Al-Rowad High School in Jubail, accompanied by Mr. Ibrahim Al-Mudaihesh. The visit, held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., aimed to introduce young minds to the world of mechanical engineering, spark interest in STEM disciplines, and strengthen ties between the school and the university. Al-Rowad High School is an esteemed institution established by the Royal Commission for Jubail and is widely recognized for its academic excellence, being a pioneer in implementing advanced educational frameworks in the region.

After a warm welcome, a departmental representative introduced KFUPM's vision and gave an overview of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The students learned how mechanical engineering connects to real-world systems, from energy and manufacturing to robotics and environmental control. They also learned how the department's mission is to provide world-class education while responding to evolving industry and societal needs.

The students also toured KFUPM's world-class Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science laboratories, guided by Lab Engineer Mr. Irfan Ahmed. They were introduced to equipment such as optical microscopes, impact-testing machines, and tensile-testing machines, and learned the purpose of each test and how it is conducted. Throughout the classroom presentation and the laboratory visit, the students showed strong enthusiasm and curiosity, engaging actively with the lab engineer and asking insightful questions. Faculty members commended them for their attentiveness and eagerness to learn.
